About Safehome Advisor

Peace of mind from an experienced fire captain

“As a retired fire captain, I bring decades of invaluable experience to every home consultation. My unique perspective allows us to anticipate potential dangers and provide insights that go beyond standard checks, ensuring a safe home environment.”

Educating families for a safer tomorrow

The most valuable service Safehome Advisor provides is education. Our goal is not only to identify fire and life safety risks in your home but also to help you understand them and take practical steps to reduce them.
The knowledge you gain extends far beyond your own home. Whether you're staying in a short-term rental, an older motel, or visiting friends and family, you'll be better prepared to recognize potential hazards, plan an escape, and respond safely if a fire occurs. We empower you with the confidence and awareness to help keep yourself and your loved ones safe—wherever you are. A little education can last a lifetime.

Aging family members

Safehome Advisor provides comprehensive residential fire safety consulting to help protect your loved ones, your home, and your property. Our service is tailored to meet a wide range of topics, from basic home fire hazard assessments to personalized emergency planning and fire safety education.

For seniors living independently at home, we offer specialized consultations that address age-related fire safety risks and promote safer living environments. These consultations empower seniors with practical knowledge and strategies to reduce hazards while supporting their independence.
Personal Support Workers (PSWs), family members, and caregivers are encouraged to bring forth any concerns. They often identify potential safety concerns during their visits and play an important role in reinforcing fire safety practices and emergency preparedness.

"Decades of experience in real-world fire service."

New Comers to Canada

Many newcomers to Canada may be unfamiliar with the safety risks associated with fuel handling and propane barbecues because these appliances and practices are not common in their countries of origin. Education is essential to helping prevent accidents.

It is also common for smoke alarms and carbon monoxide (CO) detectors to have their batteries removed because frequent cooking can trigger nuisance alarms and the high-pitched sound is perceived as disruptive. Unfortunately, disabling these life-saving devices can have fatal consequences.

A single, well-delivered safety briefing can increase awareness, encourage safe practices, and ultimately save one life—or many.

Home fire and hazard assessment

Our expert advisor will conduct a comprehensive fire and life safety assessment of your home alongside you, the homeowner. Together, we’ll identify potential hazards, discuss your concerns, and provide practical recommendations to help reduce risk. Every consultation is conducted with the utmost professionalism, respect, and confidentiality.

Each assessment includes a collaborative walkthrough of your home, including the basement, garage, storage areas, living spaces, and the exterior of your property. We evaluate common fire hazards such as the storage of flammable and combustible materials, propane barbecues, lithium-ion battery charging and storage, electrical safety, and other conditions that may increase the risk of fire.

Our goal is to provide you with the knowledge, confidence, and personalized guidance needed to create a safer home for you and your family.

Ensuring your peace of mind

In-home hazard assessment

Together, we perform a thorough walk through of your home to identify unnoticed potential fire hazards, from fuel storage and battery charging, to BBQ safety and everyday electrical cords in the home. All while educating you along the way.

Escape planning & education

As we work together to improve your home’s fire safety, it’s important to create a well-planned exit strategy. Having a clear escape plan can provide peace of mind and help everyone respond quickly and confidently in an emergency. We’ll identify the potential risks associated with different fire scenarios and develop an escape plan tailored to your home’s layout and your family’s specific needs.

Safety device recommendations

Guidance on essential fire safety devices like smoke detectors, carbon monoxide alarms, and fire extinguishers, including placement, usage and maintenance.
